The Weaning Shed - Location Details Huggate is a
peaceful village set in the gently undulating countryside of the Yorkshire
Wolds. The cottage is a five minute walk away from Huggate's historic pub, The
Wolds Inn, which offers an excellent selection of traditional English meals.
The attractive
market town of Pocklington, just 20 minutes away by car, has an arts centre
which hosts live entertainment and recently released films. Pocklington has a
good selection of shops and a market in the town square on Tuesdays. There are
also two supermarkets on the outskirts. For more serious shopping, the City of
York with its famous racecourse and National Railway Museum is also within easy reach. Excursions
to Scarborough on The Flying Scotsman steam train run from York Station for
part of the summer.
The cottage is ideally located for walking as the
Wolds
Way runs less than 500 yards from the property and the Minster Way into
York is less than a mile away. Within a 30 minute drive there is a rurally
situated golf course open to the public at Kilnwick Percy, the
Beckfisher Fly-fishing
School for anglers, the Wolds Gliding Club in Pocklington offers trial lessons, and
the Woldgate Trekking Centre for horse and pony riding. The east coast is about
35 minutes' drive from Huggate and includes the resort of Bridlington,
well-known for its sandy beaches. The cottage is also within easy reach of the
medieval deserted village of
Wharram
